Day 8 - got Ants in my pants!

It’s really quite nice to hear from all the different people having varying interest in what I’m doing here. Some that have visited Africa (each with amazing stories!) and others that are in the dream mode and want to do such a thing! I really hope they all do it!
Life is so freakn short! I’m amazed I’m still here, and very thankful for that indeed!
But I feel like I’m wasting what life, and what living has to offer us all!
I currently find my amazement in a drop of water or things like an ants life cycle... I’m so in a box!
As far as ant thing... I must admit one of the most amazing exhibits I’ve seen is a simple display at the Biodôme de Montréal. I couldn’t stop watching it! It was a complete lifecycle/ecosystem happening right before my very eyes in 2 small boxes! life to death!
It’s an ant community where 2 clear boxes are connected by a branch.
that simple branch is a branch of their entire life and existence, the maximum expansion of their territory.
simply....one side was food (a plant)... the other side was breeding.
You could see a steady stream of life and death. Ants would carry leaves from plant to colony in one direction and in the other direction they’d travel with nothing or.. get this.. a corpse of a fellow ant!
How much is your life like these ants?
How long is your branch in life?
Do you have one branch or many?
I feel like I’ve stopped in middle of the branch and am looking both directions (that most are conditioned to look in front and back)watching fellows come and go as they appear numb, incomplete and needing more out of life.
I know I can do more than carry food and a lifeless body (even if it’s my own) ?
We’re simply “conditioned” to think we have to do things a certain way or we’ll suffer and pay a price.
Perhaps that’s true... BUT a woman suffers during childbirth and is given the greatest gift life can offer!
So what’s the problem? It’s got to come easy or no way at all?
I want to get off this branch, out of my boxes and expand my life territory.
I do not mean some form of conquest, but simply because I can and it’s there!
It’s quite a jump down so I need to try and build a bridge!

Question is.... how?

  1. This is a pretty profound piece my friend. Ants in the Pants. I like what you have written here because it really does point out how shallow most of us really are if we take the time to stop and look into ourselves. We want so much yet very few of us ever take the time to figure out what we want, what we excell at, what we need to do to get there, what we need to give up in order to get it and lastly develop the tenacity to push through all the challenges that stand in our way. Burn your canoe Steve don't give yourself a way out. Push forward with all your might, all your will power, I'll get behind you to push in any way I can. Some things in life are worth dying for and our dreams are one of those things.
